1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Burniston Media ("we", "us", "our"), a trading name of Influencify Media Ltd, collects, uses and protects any personal information you provide when visiting burnistonmedia.com ("the Website"). We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Who we are (data controller)
The data controller for this Website is Influencify Media Ltd, trading as Burniston Media, 8 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5BY, United Kingdom. You can reach us at admin@burnistonmedia.com.
3. What data we collect
The personal data we collect is the information you voluntarily provide through the forms on the Website. The sign-up form asks for your name, email address, phone number, business name, the service you are interested in, and any message you include. Our Lead Gen Score and our free lead audit ask questions about your business (for example how quickly you respond to new leads, roughly what your main offer sells for and roughly what the business brings in each month), and then for your name, email address and phone number. If you arrived from one of our adverts, we also record the campaign details carried in the web address you arrived on (UTM parameters and Meta's click ID). If you apply for a job through our careers page, we ask for your name, email address, phone number, where you are based, the role you are applying for, and anything you choose to tell us. Depending on the role, we also ask for links to your LinkedIn profile, portfolio or work samples, optionally your CV, and for calling roles a short voice recording of you opening a sales call (recorded on the page with your permission to use your microphone, or a link to a recording you made elsewhere). Across the Website we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Analytics) that records aggregate page views and does not identify individual visitors, use tracking cookies, or build visitor profiles. Advertising cookies are used in one place only: see section 4. We do not collect payment information through the Website and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
4. Cookies and advertising measurement
Most of the Website sets no cookies. The exception is our free lead audit page (burnistonmedia.com/landingpage), which people usually reach from our adverts on Facebook and Instagram. On that page we use the Meta Pixel to tell Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd that someone who saw one of our adverts viewed the page, started the audit, submitted it, booked a call or asked us to ring them. The Pixel sets Meta's cookies (_fbp, and _fbc when you arrive from an advert), and with each of those events your browser sends Meta the page address, your IP address and details of your browser. We do not send Meta your name, email address, phone number or audit answers. Meta uses this to measure our adverts and to show them to people likely to find them useful, under its own terms; you can also control that in your Facebook ad preferences, at youronlinechoices.eu or at aboutads.info/choices. You can turn it off at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the foot of that page, and the page works exactly the same without it. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a no and the Pixel does not load. The audit page also keeps your answers in your browser's session storage, so they are still there if you read a case study and come back; that copy is cleared when you close the tab. If your answers show we can help, the page shows a booking calendar from Calendly, filled in with your name, email address, phone number, a summary of your answers and the advert campaign you came from, so you do not have to type them again. Calendly sets its own essential cookies when the calendar loads, asks you before setting any others, and handles the booking under its own privacy policy.
5. How we use your data
The information you submit via the sign-up form is used solely to respond to your enquiry, put together a proposal built around your goals, and follow up on any matters raised in your correspondence. If you use the Lead Gen Score or the free lead audit, we use your answers to work out your score and send you the breakdown, and we may call you once to walk you through it, or when you ask us to call you back. We use the campaign details described in section 3 to understand which of our adverts brought you to us. If you apply for a job, we use what you send us only to assess your application and to contact you about it. We will not sell your details, share them with third parties for their marketing, or add you to a mailing list without your explicit consent.
6. Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR we process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interests (responding to enquiries you send us, which is a reasonable expectation when you reach out about our services, and knowing which of our adverts work, as described in section 4), steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract with you (assessing a job application you send us) and legal obligation (where we are required to process data to comply with applicable law). You can object to the advertising measurement at any time with the "Cookie settings" link on that page or by turning on Global Privacy Control.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make the Website work: our hosting and storage provider (Vercel), and our workflow provider (Zapier), which routes your enquiry to us and sends you the confirmation or report you asked for. New enquiries reach our team through WhatsApp (owned by Meta) and are recorded in Google Sheets (Google Workspace). On the free lead audit page your details also go to Calendly when the booking calendar is shown to you, and Meta's advertising tools (the Meta Pixel) receive the information described in section 4, unless you opt out. These providers are bound by their own data processing agreements, and some of them process data in the United States; where they do, the transfer relies on the safeguards each provider offers for UK data, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. We may also disclose data if required to do so by law or a competent authority.
8. How long we keep your data
We retain form submissions only for as long as necessary to handle your enquiry and any resulting business relationship, and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically up to 12 months for enquiries that do not proceed). Once your data is no longer needed, we securely delete it. Separately, the Website keeps its own backup copy of what you submit, so that a failure in the systems above cannot cause your enquiry to be lost without our knowing. That copy is held in private, access controlled storage, is not published or reachable from the Website, excludes the rendered content of any report or confirmation sent to you, and is deleted automatically 90 days after it is created. Voice recordings and CVs sent through the careers page are held in the same private storage, reachable only through private links we use to open them, and are deleted automatically 90 days after you send them. Other details from job applications that do not lead to a role are kept for up to 6 months, in case a suitable role opens, and then deleted.
9. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including serving the Website over HTTPS. However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted to or from the Website.
10. Your rights
As a UK resident (and as applicable to individuals in the EEA), you have the right to access a copy of the data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased where there is no lawful reason for us to keep it, to restrict processing in certain circumstances, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@burnistonmedia.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

The Website contains links to other websites, such as our Calendly booking page and our Google reviews. This Privacy Policy applies only to burnistonmedia.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top.
